An Ogdensburg man accused of entering the Franklin Borough School at dismissal has countered a plea offer presented by the prosecution. Alex J. Thebold was charged with fourth-degree criminal trespass after police identified him as the man that walked around the school for 40 minutes on November 19.

The plea deal offered would reportedly require the 20-year-old to enter the pre-trial intervention program which provides early rehabilitative services for first-time, non-violent offenders. Assistant Prosecutor Magdelen Czykier told the New Jersey Herald that she received a counter offer but the state "couldn't consider it until medical records are reviewed."

Although no students or faculty were harmed during the incident, it prompted school administration to make changes to dismissal, like only allowing students to exit from doors manned by staff members.

Thebold's next court appearance is set for March 4.
